Selena Gomez is the one who will be the daughter of Dracula in "Hotel Transylvania" after all. The "Wizards of Waverly Place" starlet has taken over Miley Cyrus' job to voice Mavis, who is the vampire daughter of Adam Sandler's character, in the upcoming animated movie.
A representative to Sandler has confirmed to E! News that Gomez has been tapped to replace her fellow former Disney darling who bowed out the project earlier on Thursday, February 9. Previously, Sony Pictures announced that the former "Hannah Montana" star exited the forthcoming film but the reason of her departure is still unclear.
As mentioned above, Gomez will voice Mavis, who is described as a dark haired teenage uber-vampire. Her over-protective father, Dracula, is the owner of the titular hotel. In the film, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade Mavis' adventurous spirit.
As a heaven for Mavis, Dracula opens Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters can kick back in safety and peace. For Dracula, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem, but his world would come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.
Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, "Hotel Transylvania" also stars Kevin James, Fran Drescher, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, Cee-Lo Green and Andy Samberg. Sony has set September 21 as the day when the movie will open in the U.S. theaters.
As for Gomez, this is not the first time she is cast to voice an animated character. Previously, she has joined the voice cast for such animated movies like "Horton Hears a Who!", "Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard" and "Arthur and the Two Worlds War".
The "Monte Carlo" actress will soon begin filming her latest film "Spring Breakers" in Florida. In the movie, she will star opposite Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco, Heather Morris as well as Ashley Benson. Her other upcoming films include "Hot Mess" and "13 Reasons Why".
